What is Satellite Radio?
Satellite Radio is an entertainment service currently offered by XM
Radio and Sirius. Satellites orbiting directly over the United States
broadcast over 100 streams/channels of digital-quality music, sports,
news, and entertainment to listeners throughout the continental U.S. for
a monthly subscription fee of $9.95 (XM Radio) and $12.95 (Sirius). Most

virtually every genre, as well as over 40 world-class sports, news, and
entertainment streams.

hear - wherever and whenever you want it. Offering you over 100
music streams/channels - more than any other radio band.
Satellite channels include news, talk, sports and entertainment. 100's
of channels, for a low monthly subscription. Some satellite radio
services offer premium channels for an additional monthly fee.
How is satellite programming different from regular radio?
Satellite is completely different from regular radio. First of all, most
of the music streams/channels are 100% commercial-free. So, unlike
traditional radio or other services, satellite radio offers
commercial-free music all the time. In addition, streams/channels
feature superior sound resolution. The result is that subscribers
experience the music the way it was meant to be heard – across all of
our music streams/channels. Satellite offers original programming.
National broadcast studios have become something of a magnet for all
kinds of performers, hundreds of exclusive live interviews and
performances that you won’t hear anywhere else. Each of music
channel/streams is created and hosted by on-air personalities. Satellite
channels/streams feature the most popular genres as well as a broad
range of in-depth programming that goes far beyond what listeners can
find anywhere else. So whether a subscriber wants to experience today’s
hottest tracks or something totally new or hard to find, satellite
offers it all.
Satellite also features content providers like CNN, Headline News,
NASCAR Channel, CNBC, FOX News, C-SPAN, ESPN, Speed Channel, A&E, and E!
Entertainment that you can’t find on traditional radio across the
country.
What kind of Reception Can I Expect from Satellite Radio?
Unlike conventional radio stations that have an average reception
range of approximately 30 miles, satellite provides coast-to-coast
coverage across the continental U.S. with no signal fades.
Satellite radios for the car and home offer you freedom - from static,
from distortion, from that frustrating feeling when you drive out of
range in the middle of an exclusive interview or a new song you've been
waiting to hear.
Will I still be able to get my local radio stations if I have
Satellite?
Yes. Satellite radios will not prevent you from listening to local AM/FM
radio. Satellite radio is a whole new band of radio that is completely
digital and available coast-to-coast for less than the cost of one CD
per month.
What equipment do I need to get Satellite?
There are many ways you can get Satellite in your vehicle. If your
current radio is not Satellite-Ready, you can purchase an adapter kit
that uses a separate display control unit and provides the service
through your existing car radio. This allows you to get Satellite Radio
without replacing the car radio in your vehicle.
Whichever you decide, a satellite receiver and antenna need to be
installed in your vehicle and this can be done at any of our
retail locations where you purchase the
satellite radio kit.
